If a Person Says to His Slave: You Are Nothing But Free
Hadith 24954
٢٤٩٥٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا جرير عن مغيرة عن إبراهيم قال: إذا قال الرجل لمملوكه: [إنك لحر النفس، فهو حر.
Ibrahim says that if a person says to his slave, "Indeed, you are a free soul," then he will be considered free.
Hadith 24955
٢٤٩٥٥ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا هشيم عن يونس (عن الحسن) (١) في الرجل يقول لمملوكه] (٢): ما أنت إلا حر، قال: فقال الحسن: نيته.
It is narrated from Hasan that if a person says to his slave: "You are nothing but free," then his intention will be taken into account.
Hadith 24956
٢٤٩٥٦ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا هشيم عن إسماعيل (بن) (١) أبي خالد عن الشعبي مثله.
It is also narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him).
Hadith 24957
٢٤٩٥٧ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عباد بن العوام عن إسماعيل عن ⦗١٠١⦘ الشعبي في رجل قاتل غلامُه رجلا فقال: إنما هو حر مثلك، قال: هو حر (١).
Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says regarding the person whose slave was killed by someone, and he said, "He is free like you," that by saying this, the slave will be considered free.
