Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave a verdict based on one witness and an oath.

It is also narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Surraq (may Allah be pleased with him).

It is narrated from Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave a verdict based on one witness and an oath, and Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, also gave a verdict before you in the same manner.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gave judgment regarding rights with witness and oath.

Hazrat Suwar bin Abdullah narrates that I asked Hazrat Rabee’ah, “Is it your opinion that a verdict should be given for the rightful claimant with one witness and an oath?” He replied, “It is mentioned in this way in the book of Hazrat Sa’d.”

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu al-Zinad that Hazrat Abdul Hameed used to pass judgment in Kufa with one witness and an oath. The people of Kufa objected to him. He wrote about this to Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz. Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz wrote to him that he should pass judgment with one witness and an oath. One of their elders said, I was present with Hazrat Shurayh; he passed judgment with one witness and an oath.

Hazrat Husain narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Utbah gave a verdict against me in favor of the rightful claimant with one witness and an oath.

Hazrat Yahya bin Ya'mar used to give judgments with a witness and an oath.
