Testimony of One Whose Hand Was Cut Off as a Legal Punishment
Hadith 24381
٢٤٣٨١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن مهدي عن حماد بن سلمة عن قتادة وحميد عن الحسن أن رجلًا من قريش سرق بعيرًا، فقطع النبي ﷺ يده، قال: وكانت تجوز شهادته (١).
It is narrated from Hasan that a person from the Quraysh committed theft, so the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) had his hand cut off, and used to accept his testimony.
Hadith 24382
٢٤٣٨٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا ابن أبي زائدة عن أنت عن الشعبي قال: شهد عند شريح أقطع، فأثنى عليه خيرًا، (١) فقال: شريح نجيز شهادة (صاحب كل) (٢) حد إذا كان يوم يشهد عدلا إلا القاذف، فإن توبته فيما بينه وبين اللَّه.
Hazrat Sha'bi narrates that a man with a severed hand testified before Hazrat Shurayh. The goodness and piety of this person were praised. Hazrat Shurayh said: We accept the testimony of every person upon whom a hadd (legal punishment) has been implemented, provided that on the day of testimony he is just ('adil), except for the one punished for qadhf (false accusation of adultery), because his repentance is a matter between him and Allah.
Hadith 24383
٢٤٣٨٣ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أبي حصين عن شريح أنه أجاز شهادة أقطع.
Hazrat Shurayh also accepted the testimony of a person whose hand had been cut off.
