Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade extracting the milk of livestock without permission. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Would any of you like that someone enters his room in which his food is kept, breaks its door, and takes whatever is in it?" Surely, what is in the udders of animals is like your rooms; therefore, it is not permissible to use what is in the udders without permission.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that when you pass by someone's camels, call the shepherd three times by saying, "O shepherd." If he responds to your call and comes, then ask him for milk. But if he does not respond to your call, then you may milk the camel yourself, use the milk, and then tie up its teats.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that it is not permissible for anyone to use the milk of someone’s she-camel without permission if the teats of that she-camel have been tied. Indeed, tying its teats is its seal (i.e., now it cannot be used). And if people (a group) run out of provisions and become destitute, then call the shepherd three times; if he responds to your call, then take from him and drink. Otherwise, two people should seize it and milk it to drink.

Hazrat Abdullah narrates that I was a boy near the age of puberty and used to graze the goats of Uqbah bin Abi Mu’it. Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ and Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me; both of them were fleeing from the polytheists of Makkah. They both said, “O boy! Do you have any milk that you can give us to drink?” I replied, “I am a trustee; I cannot give you (milk).” The Holy Prophet ﷺ said, “Do you have any she-camel that has not been mounted by a male camel?” I replied, “Yes, I do.” I brought that she-camel to your service, so the Holy Prophet ﷺ tied its leg and, touching its udders, made supplication. Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) brought a stone bowl (like a cup), then milk was drawn into it and he himself drank, Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) drank, and I drank. Then the Holy Prophet ﷺ addressed the udders and said, “Shrink back!” The udders shrank back again.
