Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ubaidah bin Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to the people of Deir Tayaya that I have granted protection to your lives, wealth, and places of worship, that they will not be destroyed nor broken, as long as you do not commit any new act or give shelter to a murderer. But if you commit any new act or give shelter to a murderer, then I am free from responsibility towards you. It is obligatory upon you to host a guest for three days. Indeed, we are free from the mistakes and slips of the army. Hazrat Khalid bin Waleed (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Yazid bin Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him), Hazrat Shurahbeel bin Hasnah (may Allah be pleased with him), and Quda'ah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) bore witness (became witnesses) and it was written down.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by a man who was sitting among the people writing. And he was making more than two witnesses. Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade him. Then after a while he passed by again (and he was doing the same thing). Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Did I not forbid you?" The man said: "I obeyed Allah and disobeyed you." And it was regarding the charity of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Hazrat Abdullah bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Mu'iqeeb (may Allah be pleased with him) had testified, and regarding the charity of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), so-and-so had testified. And he wrote it down.

It is narrated from Hazrat Musa bin Salim, may Allah have mercy on him, that when Hajjaj exiled the people of the region, a woman came to me with a letter. She thought that her father had been freed. (She said:) This is the one whom Talha bin Ubaidullah, may Allah be pleased with him, bought from so-and-so, who had bought him from a young man for dinars or dirhams, for five hundred dirhams which were good, excellent, and fine. And he also paid the price, and freed him for the sake of Allah. Then, there is no way for anyone except the way of wala (allegiance). Thus, Zubair bin Al-Awwam, may Allah be pleased with him, Abdullah bin Aamir, and Ziyad bore witness.
