Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states that the sale of fruits has been prohibited until they ripen and become fit for eating, and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) states that when they ripen and become apparent, then the sale is permissible.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that selling fruits before they ripen is usury.

Hazrat Al-Aswad (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Do not conduct a Salam sale in dates until they become yellow or red, and likewise in small crops while they are still green, until their flowers appear.

Hazrat Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling fruits before they have ripened.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that until the date stone becomes hard and is safe from calamity, we will not sell it.

Hazrat Kharijah bin Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) used to sell the fruit trees when the Thurayya star would rise. (This was a sign of their ripening.)

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Hazrat Salim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade selling fruits before they ripen.

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that do not sell fruits until they have grown and are safe from calamity.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before their ripeness. Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked, "What is meant by ripeness?" He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied, "When the fruit turns red or yellow."

Hazrat Aamir (may Allah have mercy on him) says that dates should not be sold until they become red or yellow.

Hazrat Ata says that if some part of the date becomes ripe and turns red, then there is no harm in selling it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) was asked: When should the sale of dates take place? He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: When they ripen and become red or yellow.

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) says that do not buy fruits until the star Thurayya has risen. Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I mentioned this to Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him), and he (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Indeed, calamity also comes after the rising of Thurayya.

A man asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the sale of fruits. He (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before their ripeness.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) say that until the date becomes red or yellow, its sale should not be conducted.

Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote to the governors that fruits should not be sold before their goodness becomes apparent.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Hazrat Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade the sale of fruits until they are safe from every calamity (affliction).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before their ripeness (before they are ready to be picked).

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not sell fruits before their ripeness becomes apparent. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: What is meant by the appearance of ripeness? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Until they are safe from calamity and their fragrance becomes pure, genuine, and clear.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before their ripening (before they are ready to be picked).
