Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah be pleased with him) accepted the testimony of a brother in favor of his brother.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata bin Abi Rabah (may Allah have mercy on him) that there was a dispute between two men of a neighborhood. For one of them, his brother testified before Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him). The other man said, "You are his brother." Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) asked, "Do you have any interest with this person for which you are testifying?" He replied, "No." Hazrat Shurayh then said to the opponent, "Then on what basis are you rejecting his testimony?"

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the closest relative whose testimony is permissible is the testimony of one brother for another brother.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) considered the testimony of a brother in favor of his brother to be acceptable (valid).

It is narrated in a similar manner from Hazrat Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy on him.

Hazrat Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) considered the testimony of a brother as valid in favor of his brother.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) considered the testimony of a brother in favor of his brother to be valid.

Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a brother is just, then his testimony in favor of his brother is valid.

Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) accepted the testimony of a brother in favor of his brother.
