Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked how judgment should be passed between Jews and Christians when they bring their cases to us? He (may Allah have mercy on him) replied: Judge between them as you judge among Muslims; those matters are permissible among them which are permissible among Muslims.

Hazrat Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) says that leave the People of the Book and their judgments; when they themselves come to you with a case for judgment, then judge between them according to your own Book (that is, the Holy Qur'an).

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) appointed Hazrat Muhammad bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) as the governor of Egypt. Hazrat Muhammad (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and inquired that a Muslim has committed adultery with a Christian woman; what is the ruling regarding this? Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote in reply that the prescribed punishment (hadd) should be carried out on the Muslim who committed adultery with the Christian woman, and the Christian woman should be handed over to the Christians so that they may decide about her as they wish.

Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَأَنِ احْکُمْ بَیْنَہُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّہُ } has been abrogated by the verse of the Qur'an { اُحْکُمْ بَیْنَہُمْ ، أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْہُمْ }.

Hazrat Ata says that if you wish, then make a decision, and if you wish, then do not.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned to death that Jew whom the Jews had sent along with a Jew and a hypocrite.

It is narrated from Hazrat Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned to death a Jewish man and woman.

It is narrated from Hazrat Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned a Jew to death.

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stoned to death a Jewish man and woman.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had two Jews stoned. I was also among those who stoned them.
