Hazrat Qasim bin Abdur Rahman says regarding the person who buys goods and then finds a defect in some part of it, that he should either keep the entire goods or return the entire goods.

Hazrat Harith Akli (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person buys two slaves or two different items, and then finds a defect in one of them and wishes to return it, he can return it along with its price, and the sale of the one in which there is no defect will remain valid.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a person buys some slaves and finds defects in some of them, he should return them along with their price, and he should do the same with goods.

Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person buys a lot of goods in a single transaction, and then finds a defect in some of them, he should either keep all of them or return all of them.

Hazrat Aamir and Ibn Sireen say that if a person buys several things together and finds a defect in some of them, he should return all of them.

Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a person buys goods and then finds a defect in some part of it, he should return that part.

It is narrated from Hazrat Hajjaj that a man bought some goatskin bags of ghee and paid the money in cash. Then, when some bags turned out to be fewer, he intended to make up for the deficiency with some dirhams. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: If you want to complete the sale, then complete it fully; otherwise, leave it altogether.
