Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khalid bin Dinar says that I asked Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Tawus about the sale of the skins of dead animals, so they declared it disliked. Hazrat Salim said that the sale of the skins of dead animals is like eating their meat.

Hazrat Ikrimah declared the sale of the skins of sacrificial animals and carrion as disliked (makruh).

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah Almighty declares something unlawful for a people to eat, He also makes its price unlawful for them.

Hazrat Sha'bi was asked about the sale of the hides of dead buffaloes, so he declared this sale to be disliked before tanning.

Ibrahim says that the predecessors considered the sale of the skins of dead animals to be disliked, but they would make use of their price.

Ibrahim considered it undesirable to sell the skin of a dead animal and to wear it without tanning.

Hasan considered the sale of the skins of dead animals before tanning to be disliked.

Hazrat Jabir narrates that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in the year of the conquest of Makkah that Allah Almighty and His Messenger have forbidden the sale of carrion.
