Those Who Do Not Accept the Testimony of a Slave
Hadith 21496
٢١٤٩٦ - حدثنا حفص بن غياث عن حجاج عن عطاء عن ابن عباس قال: لا تجوز شهادة العبد (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) states that the testimony of a slave is not acceptable.
Hadith 21497
٢١٤٩٧ - [حدثنا ابن مبارك عن (ابن جريج) (١) عن عطاء قال: لا (تجوز) (٢) شهادة العبد] (٣).
Hazrat Ata says that the testimony of a slave is not admissible.
Hadith 21498
٢١٤٩٨ - حدثنا ابن مبارك عن محمد (بن) (١) (راشد) (٢) عن (٣) مكحول قال: لا (تجوز) (٤) شهادة العبد.
Hazrat Mak'hool says that the testimony of a slave is not admissible.
Hadith 21499
٢١٤٩٩ - [حدثنا يحيى بن زكريا بن أبي زائدة عن عبد الملك عن عطاء قال: لا تجوز شهادة العبد] (١) وإن كان في شيء (طفيف) (٢).
Hazrat Ata says that the testimony of a slave is not admissible, even in a trivial matter.
Hadith 21500
٢١٥٠٠ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن ابن أبي نجيح عن مجاهد في قوله تعالى: ﴿وَاسْتَشْهِدُوا شَهِيدَيْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِكُمْ﴾ [البقرة: ٢٨٢]، قال: من الأحرار.
Hazrat Mujahid, in the commentary of the verse { وَاسْتَشْہِدُوا شَہِیدَیْنِ مِنْ رِجَالِکُمْ } of the Holy Quran, states that it refers to free men.
Hadith 21501
٢١٥٠١ - حدثنا وكيع عن زكريا عن عامر قال: لا (تجوز) (١) شهادة العبد.
Hazrat Aamir says that the testimony of a slave is not admissible.
Hadith 21502
٢١٥٠٢ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن عيسى بن أبي (عزة) (١) عن الشعبي أنه رد شهادة عبد.
Hazrat Sha'bi had rejected the testimony of a slave.
Hadith 21503
٢١٥٠٣ - [قال أبو بكر: (١) سمعت وكيعا يقول: قال سفيان: لا تجوز شهادة العبد] (٢).
Hazrat Sufyan says that the testimony of a slave is not admissible.
Hadith 21505
٢١٥٠٥ - حدثنا وكيع قال: (نا) (١) (حسن) (٢) بن صالح عن منصور عن مجاهد ⦗٣٢٤⦘ قال: (أهل مكة) (٣) لا (يجيزونها) (٤) على درهم.
Hazrat Mujahid states that the people of Makkah would not accept the testimony of a slave even for one dirham.
