Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Sa’d Jamadi narrates that I asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them and may Allah be pleased with him) about those fish which die due to cold or are killed by other fish. Both of them replied that they are lawful (halal).

Hazrat Tawus considered it undesirable (makruh) to eat a fish that had been killed by another fish.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) says that there is no harm in eating such a fish.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ubaid bin Umair was asked: If a person puts a hook in the water to catch fish, and a fish gets caught in it, but then another fish comes and attacks it and takes away half of it, what is the ruling? He replied: He can eat the remaining part.
