If Husband and Wife Appoint an Arbitrator and Then Reconcile, What Is the Ruling?
Hadith 20379
٢٠٣٧٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: نا أبو أسامة عن صالح بن مسلم قال: سألت الشعبي قلت: رجل وامرأته حكما رجلين ثم بدا لهما أن (يرجعا) (١) قال: ذلك لهما ما لم يتكلما، فإذا تكلما فليس لهما أن يرجعا.
Hazrat Salih bin Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) if a husband and wife appoint someone as an arbitrator and then reconcile, what is the ruling? He replied that this is permissible for them until the arbitrator speaks; once both have spoken, then they cannot reconcile.
