Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Zaid bin Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a man divorced his wife, but neither fixed a dowry for her nor had intercourse with her, so Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) compelled him to pay her the Muta’ (consolatory gift).

Hazrat Ibn Mughaffal (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man divorces his wife, even though he neither fixed the dower nor had lawful intercourse with her, he will be compelled to pay her the provision (mut‘ah).

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man divorces his wife, even though he neither fixed the dowry nor had lawful intercourse with her, he will be compelled to pay her the Mut'ah (consolatory gift).

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man divorces his wife, even though he neither fixed a dowry nor had lawful intercourse with her, he will be compelled to pay her the parting gift (mut‘ah).

Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in Mut'ah, he will give half of the mahr-mithl.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that if a man divorces his wife, although neither the dowry was fixed nor did he have lawful intercourse with her, then the woman will receive nothing except Mut'ah (a parting gift).

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man divorces his wife, even though he neither fixed the dowry nor had lawful intercourse with her, he will be compelled to pay her the gift (mut‘ah). Ibn Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says that along with the gift (mut‘ah), she will also receive something else.
