Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that when a man makes an oath of abstention (ila) from his wife for one month, two months, or three months, that is, for a period that does not reach the limit of four months, then this is not considered ila.

Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if someone swears to stay away from his wife for less than four months, this is not Ilaa.

Hazrat Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) say that if an oath is taken to stay away from the wife for less than four months, then this is not Ilaa.

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man swears that he will not go near his wife for three months and keeps away from her, and four months pass, then this will not be considered Ilaa.
