Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a disobedient wife was brought to Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He had her imprisoned for three days. Then he called her and asked, "How did you feel?" She replied, "Since I married this man, I have only found comfort in these days that I have been imprisoned here." He said to her husband, "Divorce her, even if it is in exchange for just one earring of hers."

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Take khula from a woman even if it is in exchange for something less than the cloth used to tie her hair.

Hazrat Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that a freed slave woman of Hazrat Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaid took khula' from her husband in exchange for all her belongings, even some of her clothes, and when this matter reached Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), he did not forbid it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that a woman can obtain khula from a man even if she has to give as little as the cloth used for tying her hair.

It is also narrated in the same way from Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him).

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the husband can take from the woman, in exchange for khul‘, anything, even the cloth she uses to tie her hair.

Hazrat Dhahhak (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man takes more compensation than the dowry (mahr) in exchange for khula, it is permissible.
