Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Habib bin Mehran (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Hazrat Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) if a woman takes khula from her husband in exchange for the remaining dowry, can they reconcile? He replied, yes, if divorce was not mentioned, they can reconcile with a new dowry. He says that I asked Hazrat Mahan (may Allah have mercy on him), and he replied, yes, even if it is in exchange for just a water jug.

Hazrat Aamir (may Allah have mercy on him) and Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) say that when a man gives his wife one divorce in exchange for some compensation, he does not have the right to take her back; rather, he will have to send a marriage proposal.

Hazrat Hisham (may Allah have mercy on him) says that my father used to say that the husband of a woman who has taken khula has more right to send a marriage proposal to her during her waiting period.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that when a man divorces a woman through khul‘, and then both regret it while the woman is still in her ‘iddah, he cannot take her back without a new marriage proposal.

Hazrat Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a man cannot marry for less than what he has taken from his wife.

Hazrat Maymun bin Mehran (may Allah have mercy on him) says regarding a woman who has obtained khula that if the husband has accepted compensation from her and then later sends a marriage proposal, he can marry her, but a new dowry (mahr) must be fixed.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if the husband of a woman who has obtained khula wishes to reconcile with her, he should send a marriage proposal with a new dower.
