Hazrat Usman (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the waiting period (‘iddah) of a woman who has obtained khula‘ is one menstrual cycle.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) states that the waiting period (‘iddah) of a woman who has obtained khula‘ is one menstrual cycle.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that Hazrat Rubayyi’ (may Allah be pleased with her) took khula (divorce) from her husband. Her uncle went to Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), so Hazrat Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said that she will observe the waiting period (‘iddah) of one menstrual cycle. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) previously held the opinion that the waiting period for a woman who obtained khula was three menstrual cycles, but after Hazrat Uthman’s (may Allah be pleased with him) ruling, he adopted the opinion of one menstrual cycle as the waiting period, and used to say that he (Uthman) was better than us and more knowledgeable than us.

Hazrat Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the waiting period (‘iddah) of a woman who has obtained khula‘ is one menstrual cycle. This decision was given by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding Jameelah bint Salul (may Allah be pleased with her).

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that the waiting period (‘iddah) of a woman who has obtained khula‘ is one menstrual cycle.

Hazrat Sulaiman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Rubayyi’ (may Allah be pleased with her) took khula from her husband, and then she was ordered to observe the waiting period (‘iddah) of one menstrual cycle.
