Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I asked Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man from Bahrain who had given his wife one or two divorces. Then that woman married someone else, and her second husband also divorced her. Then the first husband married her again. How many divorces would he have the right to give her? He replied that he would have the right to the remaining number of divorces.

Hazrat Abi, may Allah have mercy on him, says that now the right to the remaining divorce will remain with him.

Hazrat Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Hazrat Ziyad (may Allah have mercy on him) asked Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) about a man who gave his wife one or two divorces, then she became irrevocably separated, and then another man married her and either divorced her or died, and then the first man married her again. How many divorces does he have left with her? Hazrat Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said: the remaining divorces, while Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: it is a new marriage and new divorces.

Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Ubayy, Hazrat Abu Darda, and Hazrat Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with them) say that the right to the remaining divorces will remain.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that only three divorces terminate the marriage bond.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the right to the remaining divorces will remain.

Hazrat Abi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the right of the remaining divorces will remain.

Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Mu'adh, Hazrat Zaid, Hazrat Ubayy, and Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) say that the right of the remaining divorces will remain.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that she will return with the remaining divorces.
