Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man gives his wife the right to pronounce three divorces and the woman exercises this right once for herself, then three divorces will take effect.

Hazrat Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man gives his wife the authority of three divorces and the woman exercises the authority once for herself, then three divorces will take effect.

Hazrat Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked that a man said to a woman, “You have the choice,” she remained silent, then he said, “You have the choice,” she again remained silent, then he said, “You have the choice,” now she chose herself, so what is the ruling? He replied that the woman will become separated (bainah) and these will be three divorces.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man gives his wife the right to pronounce three divorces and the woman chooses to divorce herself once, then three divorces will take effect.
