Hadith 18972
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: If a minor girl is divorced, how will she observe her waiting period (‘iddah)? He replied: She will observe her ‘iddah according to months; if she gets her menses before the months are completed, she will start her ‘iddah again based on her menses. If she gets her menses after the months are completed, then her ‘iddah is complete.
Hadith 18975
Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man divorces a minor girl, she will observe a waiting period (‘iddah) of three months. If she starts menstruating before the completion of three months, her previous waiting period is nullified, and now she will complete her ‘iddah based on menstruation from the beginning.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked that a minor girl, after consummation of marriage, was divorced by her husband. She had completed two months and twenty-five days of her waiting period when she started menstruating. What should she do now? He replied that now she should observe the waiting period of three menstrual cycles. Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) also used to say the same.
