Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period," and he intends divorce by it, then one divorce will take place.

Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period (iddah)," and he intends divorce by it, then one divorce will take effect.

Hazrat Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period," and he intends divorce by it, then one divorce will take place.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period," and he intends divorce by it, then one divorce will take place, and he has more right to take her back.

Hazrat Sha’bah says that I asked Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) that if a man says to his wife, “You are divorced, you are divorced, you are divorced,” and he intends only one divorce, then what is the ruling? Both of them replied that only one divorce will take effect, and if he says, “Count the waiting period, count the waiting period,” then the same ruling applies.

Hazrat Hakam (may Allah have mercy on him) and Hazrat Hammad (may Allah have mercy on him) say that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period, count the waiting period," and intends only one, then one divorce will take place.

Hazrat Aamir (may Allah have mercy on him) says that if a man says to his wife, "Count the waiting period, count the waiting period," and intends three (divorces), then only one divorce will take place.
