Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) says that give preference to marrying virgin women because their conversation is sweeter, they are more fertile, and they are content with little.

Hazrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that give preference to marrying virgin women, because they are content with little and are more loving.

It is narrated from Hazrat Mak'hool (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Prefer marrying young women, for they are sweeter in speech, better in character, and more prolific in bearing children.

Hazrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: After my marriage, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me, "Did you marry a virgin or a previously married woman?" I replied, "A previously married woman." He said, "Why did you not marry a virgin, so that she could play with you and you with her?"

Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one day I was walking with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he said to me, "O Jabir! Do you have a wife?" I replied, "Yes." He asked, "Did you marry a previously married woman or a virgin?" I said, "I married a previously married woman." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Why did you not marry a young girl so that you could play with her and she could play with you?" I replied, "My father was martyred in such-and-such battle while accompanying you, and he left behind young daughters. I did not want to bring another young girl among them. So I married a previously married woman so that she could comb their hair and sew their clothes if they were torn." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have thought rightly."
