ما قالوا في قوله: ﴿ولا تعزموا عقدة النكاح﴾
Explanation of the Quranic Verse: {Do not resolve on the marriage contract} ({وَلاَ تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَۃَ النِّکَاحِ})
Hadith 18548
١٨٥٤٨ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: (نا) (١) عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن قتادة: ﴿وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ﴾ [البقرة: ٢٣٥]، قال: انقضاء العدة.
Hazrat Qatadah (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَلاَ تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَۃَ النِّکَاحِ حَتَّی یَبْلُغَ الْکِتَابُ أَجَلَہُ }, states that it means the completion of the waiting period (iddah).
Hadith 18549
١٨٥٤٩ - حدثنا وكيع (والفضل) (١) عن سفيان (عن ليث) (٢) عن مجاهد: (﴿وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ﴾ قال: انقضاء العدة.
Hazrat Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him), in the commentary of the verse { وَلاَ تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَۃَ النِّکَاحِ حَتَّی یَبْلُغَ الْکِتَابُ أَجَلَہُ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that it means the completion of the waiting period (iddah).
Hadith 18550
١٨٥٥٠ - حدثنا عبيد اللَّه عن إسرائيل عن السدي عن أبي مالك: ﴿وَلَا تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَةَ النِّكَاحِ حَتَّى يَبْلُغَ الْكِتَابُ أَجَلَهُ﴾ قال: لا تواعدوها في عدتها: إني أتزوجك (حين) (١) تنقضي عدتك.
Hazrat Abu Malik, in the commentary of the verse { وَلاَ تَعْزِمُوا عُقْدَۃَ النِّکَاحِ حَتَّی یَبْلُغَ الْکِتَابُ أَجَلَہُ } of the Holy Qur'an, says that during the waiting period ('iddah) of women, do not make a promise to them that "I will marry you after your 'iddah is over."
