Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Seek good matches for your children.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Alqamah (may Allah have mercy on him) would marry into good families when he got married.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Khurash (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I saw Hazrat Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) at the place of Rabdhah. His wife's complexion was dark, or he said that she was exhausted due to hunger and weakness. They were in their dark-colored hut. Someone said to him, "O Abu Dharr! It would have been better if you had married a better woman than this!" He replied, "I prefer to marry a woman who causes a decrease in my fame and reputation rather than marry a woman who causes an increase in my name and display."

Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) says that no habit of ignorance remains in me except that I do not care which Muslim I am marrying and to whom I am giving in marriage.

Ibrahim (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Alqamah (may Allah have mercy on him) used to send marriage proposals to people who were of lower status than himself.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says that a man married the daughter of a slave tailor. A boy was born to them, but the man refused to acknowledge the child as his own. Hazrat Shurayh (may Allah have mercy on him) said to him, "The same thing that compelled you to marry the daughter of a slave tailor, even though you are a respected man of the Arabs, is what has now prompted you to refuse to acknowledge the child as your son." (That is, Satan has put doubts in your heart.)
