Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), "Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Mut'ah and the eating of the meat of domesticated donkeys?"

Hazrat Sabrah Juhani says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade Mut'ah on the day of the conquest of Makkah.

Hazrat Sabrah Juhani says that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) standing between the corner and the door of the Ka'bah and saying: "O people! I had permitted you to contract temporary marriage (mut'ah) with women, but now Allah the Exalted has made it forbidden until the Day of Resurrection. If anyone has a wife through mut'ah, he should let her go her way, and do not take back whatever dowry you have given them."

Hazrat Iyas bin Salamah's father narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted Mut'ah in the year of Awtas, then later forbade it.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will order the stoning of those who practice Mut'ah."

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) forbade two mut‘ahs: mut‘ah of women and mut‘ah of Hajj.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about Mut'ah, so he replied: "We consider it nothing but indecency."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about Mut'ah, so he replied that it is forbidden. He was told that Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) gives a fatwa for its permissibility. Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Then why did he not proclaim this loudly during the time of Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)?"

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that may Allah have mercy on Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him); if he had not prohibited Mut'ah, adultery would have become widespread.

Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By Allah! Mut'ah was permitted only for three days. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had allowed it. Mut'ah was neither permissible before that nor was it ever permissible after that.

Hazrat Ibn Dhu’ayb (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I heard Hazrat Ibn Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the kunyah of the wolf is Abu Ja’dah, and mut’ah is adultery.

Hazrat Tawus (may Allah have mercy on him) said that the method of Mut'ah was like that of Nikah, but in it the duration was in the hands of the women.

Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If a man is brought to me who has engaged in Mut'ah with a woman, if he is married, I will have him stoned, and if he is unmarried, I will have him flogged.

Hazrat Mak’hool (may Allah have mercy on him) says that marrying a woman for a specified period is adultery.

Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once, during our youth, we were with the Prophet ﷺ. Troubled by (the intensity of desire), we requested the Prophet ﷺ that we wished to castrate ourselves. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Do not do so," and then he permitted us to marry a woman for a specified period in exchange for a garment. Then Hazrat Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse: O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you.
