Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) considered withdrawal (azl) to be disliked, and after it, they held the obligation of ghusl (ritual bath).

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib states that some of the Muhajireen considered 'azl' (withdrawal) to be disliked, and among them along with others was Hazrat Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) as well.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that 'azl (withdrawal) is a form of burying alive.

Hazrat Maymun bin Mehran narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) bought a slave girl for his son. After some time, he said, "Why does she not become pregnant! Perhaps you practice coitus interruptus with her? If I find out, I will beat you."

Hazrat Abu Umamah, regarding 'azl (withdrawal), says that I do not expect this from any Muslim.

Hazrat Salim says that 'azl (withdrawal) is a form of burying alive.

Hazrat Aswad considered 'azl (withdrawal) to be disliked.

Hazrat Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once a man came to the service of the Prophet ﷺ and said that he was only able to save one slave girl from the polytheists and that he practiced coitus interruptus with her. The Prophet ﷺ said that destiny has brought her here.

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the women of Banu Mustaliq came into our possession as captives. We used to have intercourse with them and practiced coitus interruptus (azl). One day, I was with a slave woman in the market of Banu Qaynuqa when a Jew passed by me and said, "O Abu Saeed, what about this slave woman!" I said, "She is my slave and I want to sell her." He asked, "Have you had intercourse with her?" I said, "Yes." He said, "And you want to sell her even though it is possible that your semen is in her womb?" I said, "I used to practice azl with her." He said, "This is a form of burying alive." I went to the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and related the entire incident. He said, "The Jews have lied, the Jews have lied."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Muhairiz says that I and Hazrat Abu Sarmah Mazni were present, and we heard Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri narrate the same thing that Abu Salamah and Abu Umamah were narrating. That the Holy Prophet ﷺ said that the Jews lied, and at the end of this hadith it is stated: Do not do this, because Allah Almighty has already decided the destiny of those who will be born until the Day of Judgment.
