Hadith 17140
١٧١٤٠ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن هشام عن قيس بن (سعد) (١) عن عطاء (عن) (٢) ابن عباس قال: جاوز حرمتين إلى حرمة (ولم تحرم) (٣) عليه امرأته (٤).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that one who commits adultery with his sister-in-law is guilty of a major sin, but his wife will not become unlawful for him.
Hadith 17141
١٧١٤١ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري قال: إذا زنى الرجل بأخت امرأته فإنها لا تحرم عليه، (لا يحرم) (١) حرام حلالًا.
Hazrat Zuhri says that if a person commits adultery with his wife's sister (sali), his wife does not become unlawful for him because something unlawful cannot make something lawful unlawful.
Hadith 17142
١٧١٤٢ - حدثنا عبد الوهاب عن عثمان البتي عن ابن (أشوع) (١) أنه سئل عنها فقال: (لا يحرم) (٢) الحرام الحلال، (جسرت) (٣) عليها، وهابها إبراهيم والشعبي.
Hazrat Ibn Ashwa’ was asked about this matter, so he replied that no unlawful thing can make the lawful unlawful. I have dared to say this, whereas Ibrahim and Hazrat Sha’bi were afraid to say it.
Hadith 17143
١٧١٤٣ - حدثنا (١) عبد الأعلى عن هشام عن الحسن قال: (حرمت) (٢) عليه امرأته.
Hasan says that in this case his wife will become forbidden for him.
Hadith 17144
١٧١٤٤ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: (نا) (١) (سعيد) (٢) قال قتادة: لا يحرمها ذلك عليه، غير أنه لا يغشى امرأته حتى (تنقضي) (٣) عدة التي (باء) (٤) بها.
Hazrat Qatadah says that in the case of committing adultery with one's sister-in-law, the wife does not become forbidden, however, he cannot have intercourse with his wife until the woman with whom he had intercourse completes her waiting period ('iddah).
Hadith 17145
١٧١٤٥ - [(١) حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن قتادة عن جابر بن زيد والحسن أنهما قالا: حرمت عليه امرأته (٢).
Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid and Hasan state that in the case of committing adultery with the sister-in-law, the wife will become forbidden.
Hadith 17147
١٧١٤٧ - [عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن بعض أصحابه عن النخعي مثل قول قتاة وإن كانت حاملًا فحتى تضع حملها] (١).
Hazrat Nakha'i, like Hazrat Qatadah, also holds the view that a woman guilty of fornication will observe the waiting period ('iddah), and that waiting period can last until childbirth.
Hadith 17148
١٧١٤٨ - [حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن سعيد عن صاحب له عن عطاء قال: لا يحرمها ذلك عليه] (١).
Hazrat Ata says that committing adultery with a sister-in-law does not make the wife unlawful.
Hadith 17149
١٧١٤٩ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن سعيد أنه بلغه (١) عن الشعبي قال: لا يحرمها ذلك عليه.
Hazrat Sha'bi says that committing adultery with one's sister-in-law does not make one's wife unlawful (haram) for him.
Hadith 17150
١٧١٥٠ - حدثنا (أبو) (١) عبد الصمد العمي عن سعيد عن قتادة عن عمران بن حصين قال: حرمت عليه امرأته (٢).
Hazrat Imran bin Husain says that committing adultery with the sister-in-law will make the wife unlawful.
Hadith 17151
١٧١٥١ - حدثنا (أبو) (١) عبد الصمد العمي عن سعيد عن قتادة عن يحيى بن يعمر عن ابن عباس قال: لم تحرم امرأته عليه (٢).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that committing adultery with the sister-in-law does not make the wife unlawful.
