Marriage to Christian Women of Banu Taghlib
Hadith 16968
١٦٩٦٨ - حدثنا (عبدة) (١) عن سعيد عن أبي معشر عن إبراهيم عن علي أنه كان يكره ذبائح نصارى بني (تغلب) (٢) ونساءهم ويقول؛ هم من العرب (٣).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) considered the slaughtered animals of Banu Taghlib and marriage with their women to be disliked, and he used to say that these are Arab people.
Hadith 16969
١٦٩٦٩ - حدثنا عبدة عن سعيد عن قتادة عن الحسن أنه كان لا يرى بذلك بأسًا ويقول: انتحلوا (دينًا) (١) فذلك دينهم.
Hasan says that there is no harm in consuming the slaughtered animals of Banu Taghlib and marrying their women. They have adopted a religion, and now this is their religion.
Hadith 16970
١٦٩٧٠ - حدثنا يزيد بن هارون عن حبيب عن عمرو بن (هرم) (١) قال: سئل جابر بن زيد عن نصارى العرب هل تحل نساؤهم (٢) للمسلمين (٣) قال: ليسوا من أهل الكتاب ولا تحل نساؤهم ولا طعامهم للمسلمين.
Hazrat Amr bin Harm reports that Hazrat Jabir bin Zaid was asked about the Arab Christians, whether it is permissible to marry their women. He replied that they are not People of the Book; their women and their food are not lawful for Muslims.
Hadith 16971
١٦٩٧١ - حدثنا معتمر عن عمران بن (حدير) (١) قال: قال عكرمة: ﴿(وَمَن ⦗٢٢٣⦘ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ) (٢) مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ﴾ [المائدة: ٥١]، قال: نصارى العرب في ذبائحهم وفي نسائهم.
Hazrat Ikrimah says regarding the verse of the Holy Qur'an { وَمَنْ یَتَوَلَّہُمْ مِنْکُمْ فَإِنَّہُ مِنْہُمْ } that this verse was revealed about the slaughtered animals of the Arab Christians and their women.
Hadith 16972
١٦٩٧٢ - حدثنا عفان قال: نا حماد بن سلمة عن عطاء بن السائب عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس قال: كلوا ذبائح بني تغلب وتزوجوا نساءهم فإن اللَّه تعالى يقول: ﴿يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا الْيَهُودَ وَالنَّصَارَى أَوْلِيَاءَ بَعْضُهُمْ﴾، فلو لم يكونوا منهم إلا بالولاية لكانوا منهم (١).
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) says that eat the slaughtered animals of Banu Taghlib and marry their women. Because Allah Almighty says: O you who believe! Do not take the Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other.
Hadith 16973
١٦٩٧٣ - حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن سعيد عن أبي (معشر) (١) عن إبراهيم عن علي أنه (كره) (٢) (ذبائح) (٣) نصارى العرب ونساءهم (٤).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) considered the slaughtered animals of Arab Christians and marriage with their women to be disliked (makruh).
Hadith 16974
١٦٩٧٤ - حدثنا أبو خالد عن سعيد عن أبي (معشر) (١) عن إبراهيم أنه (كرهه) (٢).
Ibrahim has considered the slaughtered animals of Christian Arabs and marriage with their women to be disliked.
Hadith 16975
١٦٩٧٥ - حدثنا أبو خالد الأحمر عن سعيد عن قتادة عن الحسن قال: لا بأس به.
Hasan says that there is no harm in it.
