Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Al-Aswad preferred that there should be nothing under the camel-litter.

Hazrat Khalid Al-A'war says that Zar Hamdani disagreed with me on the issue of whether performing Hajj on a camel-litter is superior or on a palanquin. Zar Hamdani claimed that the camel-litter is superior. Hazrat Zar said, "Camel-litter." Then I asked Ibrahim; he said, "Palanquin."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saw a group of people from Yemen whose saddles were made of leather. He said, "Whoever wants to see a group resembling the companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), let him look at these people."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) performed Hajj while sitting on a litter.

Hazrat Tawus says that the Hajj of righteous people is performed on a camel litter.

It is narrated from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj on a saddle and a cotton garment whose price was not more than four dirhams. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! I wish to do this in a manner in which there is neither ostentation nor seeking of fame or display.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj on a camel litter, so he was swaying, or it is said that he (peace and blessings be upon him) (had his hand placed on his rib) was leaning, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: O Allah! I am present, indeed the true comfort is the comfort of the Hereafter.

Muhammad disliked performing Hajj while sitting in a howdah and used to say that indeed people used to perform Hajj while sitting in palanquins and saddles.
