Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are five animals which, if a person in the state of Ihram kills them, there is no sin upon him: the rat, the scorpion, the crow, the kite, and the biting dog.

A man asked Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) which animals a person in the state of Ihram is allowed to kill. He replied that one of the noble wives narrated a hadith to him that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded to kill the mouse, the scorpion, the biting dog, the kite, and the crow.

Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib states that a person in the state of Ihram is permitted to kill five animals: scorpion, snake, wolf, crow, and dog.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) states that there is no harm if a person in the state of Ihram kills a snake or a kite.

Hazrat Qasim says that a person in the state of Ihram may kill a small mouse.

Hazrat Mughira and Ibrahim say that a Muhrim will not kill any wild animal except the one that attacks him.

Hazrat Ata says that if any enemy attacks you, then kill him, even if you are in the state of Ihram.

Hazrat Tariq bin Shihab narrates: I passed by some snakes while I was in the state of Ihram. I killed them with my staff. Then when I came to Hazrat Umar, I asked him about killing them. He said: Kill them, for indeed they are your enemies.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the state of Ihram, Hazrat Umar was asked about killing a snake. He replied, "Kill it."

It is narrated from Hazrat Nafi' that we were with Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and we were in the state of Ihram when we saw a snake, so Hazrat Salim advanced and killed it.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said that if a badger attacks a person in the state of Ihram, he should kill it, and if he kills it before it attacks, then a big goat is obligatory upon him.

Hazrat Abu Saeed narrates that a person in the state of Ihram may kill a snake, scorpion, predatory animals, dog, and small mouse. He was asked why the restriction of "al-Fuwaisiqah" was applied to the mouse. He replied, because it was about to set the house on fire with the lamp when the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) opened.

Ibrahim says that a person in the state of ihram will kill a mouse and a two-colored crow (which is black and white).

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A person in the state of Ihram should kill the mouse, the scorpion, the kite, the crow, and the biting dog.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said likewise: with the addition that he will also kill the snake.

It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are five things that can be killed in the Haram: the kite, the crow, the dog, the rat, and the scorpion.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) states that if you kill them while in the state of Ihram, then there is no harm upon you in this.

Hazrat Suwaid bin Ghaflah narrates that Hazrat Umar ordered us to kill snakes and hornets even though we were in the state of Ihram.
