Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Tawus, and Hazrat Mujahid state that if a person in the state of Ihram hunts a dove, then a goat becomes obligatory upon him.

A man asked Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Qasim, "If a person in the state of Ihram hunts a dove, what should he do?" One of them replied, "He should give half a mudd in charity," and the other said, "Half a mudd is better than a dove."

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) and Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) state that if a person in the state of Ihram hunts a dove, he should give one-third of a mudd as charity, and one-third of a mudd, if it suffices for a poor person's stomach, will be sufficient on behalf of the dove.

Hazrat Ikrimah bin Khalid was asked: If a person in the state of Ihram hunts a dove, what should he do? He replied: He should give one mudd of charity.
