في الميت يحج عنه
Performing Hajj on behalf of a deceased person
Hadith 15369
١٥٣٦٩ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن شعبة عن أبي بشر عن سعيد ابن جبير عن ابن عباس قال: جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: إن أختي ماتت ولم تحج أفأحج عنها؟ قال: "أرأيت لو كان عليها دين فقضيته، واللَّه أحق بالوفاء والقضاء" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My sister has passed away and she had not performed Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on her behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What do you think, if she had a debt, would you pay it off?" Surely, Allah is more deserving that His right be fulfilled.
Hadith 15370
١٥٣٧٠ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن منصور عن مجاهد عن رجل يقال له يوسف عن ابن الزبير قال: أتى النبي ﷺ رجل فقال: يا رسول ⦗٤٢١⦘ اللَّه إن (أبي) (١) مات ولم يحج أفأحج عنه؟ قال: " (أنت) (٢) أكبر (ولده؟) (٣) " قال: نعم، قال: "فحج عن (أبيك) (٤) أرأيت لو كان على (أبيك) (٥) دين فقضيته؟ " (٦).
It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Zubair that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "My father has passed away and he had not performed Hajj. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Are you his eldest son?" The man replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then perform Hajj on behalf of your father. What do you think, if your father had a debt, would you not pay it off?"
Hadith 15371
١٥٣٧١ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن أسلم عن عطاء قال: يحج عن الميت وإن لم يوص به.
Hazrat Ata says that Hajj may be performed on behalf of the deceased even if he did not make a will for it.
