Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat As-Sa'b bin Jathamah narrates that at the place of Abwa or the place of Waddan, I presented the meat of a wild donkey to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the state of Ihram. He (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it and said: We had no right to return this meat to you, but we are in the state of Ihram.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Hazrat Sa'b bin Jathamah presented the meat of a wild donkey to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the state of Ihram. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it and said: If we were not in the state of Ihram, we would certainly have accepted it from you.

It is narrated about Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he disliked both fresh and dried meat for a person in the state of ihram.

Hazrat Sa'b sent a wild donkey as a gift to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, so he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Return it, for we are in the state of Ihram."

Hazrat Tawus used to forbid a Muhrim from eating the meat of hunted animals, or using it as provision for the journey, or utilizing it for any other purpose.

Abu al-Tha'tha' disliked it eating its game for the pilgrim in Ihram, and he would recite this verse of the Holy Qur’an { وَ حُرِّمَ عَلَیْکُمْ صَیْدُ الْبَرِّ مَا دُمْتُمْ حُرُمًا }.

It is narrated from Urwah that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me: O nephew! Indeed, these are but a few nights; if anything troubles your heart, then leave it.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that this meat is unspecified.

Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked eating it.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Harith narrates that a white-footed animal was brought as a gift for Hazrat Usman while he was in the state of Ihram with the pilgrims. He ordered it to be cooked; its tharid was prepared and brought in bowls. We were all in the state of Ihram and we all ate from it except Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who did not partake of it.

Ismail says that I asked Hazrat Sha'bi about this matter. He replied that there is a difference of opinion regarding it; in my view, it is preferable that you do not eat it.
