Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Aswad, Hazrat Umar, and Hazrat Zaid state regarding the person whose Hajj is missed that he should exit the state of Ihram with Umrah and perform the missed Hajj in the following year.

It is narrated from Hazrat Ata that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not perform Hajj, then a sacrifice (dam) is due upon him, and he should make it an Umrah, and it is obligatory upon him to perform the missed Hajj in the following year.

It is also narrated in a similar manner from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).

Hazrat Tawus says regarding the person whose Hajj is missed, he should convert his Hajj into Umrah.

Hazrat Qasim says regarding the person whose Hajj is missed, that he should convert it into Umrah, and it is obligatory upon him to perform the missed Hajj the following year, and he should offer a sacrifice. And if he does not find a sacrifice, then he should fast three days during the days of Hajj and seven days after returning home.

Ibrahim says that if Hajj is missed, then it should be converted into Umrah and a sacrifice is required for it; this is more preferable to me than other actions.

Hazrat Zuhri says that he should convert it to Umrah, and sacrifice is obligatory on him, and next year he must perform the missed Hajj.

Hazrat Umar says that he should end his ihram with Umrah, and he must perform the missed Hajj the following year.
