Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim say that when a resident of Makkah goes to Mina, he will perform shortened (qasr) prayers, and Hazrat Ata and Hazrat Zuhri say that he will perform full prayers.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) was residing in Makkah Mukarramah. When he went to Mina during the journey of Hajj, he performed shortened (Qasr) prayers.

Hazrat Hanzala narrates that I asked Hazrat Qasim about performing congregational prayer with the Imam at Arafah. He replied, "Perform the complete prayer with his prayer." I said, "I am a resident of Makkah." He replied, "I know." Then I asked Hazrat Salim and Hazrat Tawus, and they also instructed in the same manner.

Hazrat Mujahid and Hazrat Ata state that for the people of Makkah, during the journey of Hajj, the prayers are not shortened (they are to be offered in full).
