Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ata, Hazrat Tawus, and Hazrat Mujahid say that a Muhrim will not eat from the fidya and the recompense for hunting.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to say that if a camel becomes exhausted on the way or its leg breaks, then its owner may eat from it himself and may also feed others; there is no compensation required for it. However, if it is an animal for a vow or as a substitute for hunting, then if it is eaten, compensation will be required.

Hazrat Ata says that if an animal is for compensation of hunting, or for sacrifice, or vowed for the needy, then he himself should not eat from it.

Ibrahim says that he himself will not eat from the sacrifice given as compensation for hunting.

Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair states that one should not eat from a sacrifice that is vowed, or for expiation, or for the poor.

The same is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with both of them) says that one should not eat from the sacrifice offered as compensation for hunting.
