Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Ikrimah says that the one performing Hajj Tamattu should not fast except within the ten days.

Hazrat Mujahid says that the one performing Hajj Tamattu' may, if he wishes, fast in the month of Shawwal, and if he wishes, he may fast in Dhu al-Qa'dah. Hazrat Tawus and Hazrat Ata say that the Mutamatti' will not fast except in the ten days.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that the one performing Tamattu’ should fast while in the state of Ihram, and make up the missed fasts in those same days. The narrator says that I asked, can he fast in Shawwal? He replied, no, only while in the state of Ihram should he fast.

Hazrat Tawus and Hazrat Ata say that those three fasts should be observed only within the ten days, and Hazrat Mujahid says that if he observes them during the months of Hajj, there is no harm.
