Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Imran says that I asked Hazrat Qasim and Hazrat Salim: If a person has made zihar (a form of divorce) from his slave woman and he does not have any slave, etc., whom he can set free, can he set that same slave woman free? They replied: Yes.

Hazrat Dahhak says that if a person pronounces zihar on a slave woman and does not find any slave, etc., to free for expiation, nor has the strength to fast, and he intends to marry that slave woman, then he should make her freedom her dowry and free her as expiation for zihar; she will become his wife.

It is narrated from Ibrahim that if a person pronounces zihar on his slave woman, it is permissible for him to set that slave woman free.

It is narrated from Hazrat Tawoos that if a person pronounces zihar on his umm walad and does not find anything to give as expiation, then he should set her free; her emancipation will become the expiation for his oath.
