Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) freed a child born of adultery and his mother.

It is narrated in the same manner from Hazrat Nafi'.

Ibn Aun states that Muhammad did not consider it objectionable to free a child born of adultery.

Hazrat Tawus narrates from his father that regarding the freeing of a child born out of wedlock, it was said that there is no harm in freeing him.

Hazrat Abdul Malik states that Hazrat Ata was asked whether a child born of adultery can be set free. He replied: Yes, setting him free is good.

It is narrated from Hazrat Umm Najid that she asked Hazrat Abu Umamah about freeing a child born out of adultery. He replied, "He is like counterfeit dirhams; give charity with him."

It is narrated from Hazrat Umar bin Abdur Rahman bin Saad that a man came to Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked: "I have two slaves, one of legitimate lineage and the other born of adultery, and I wish to free one slave. In your opinion, which one should I free?" He replied: "See which one is more valuable, free that one." They found that the one born of adultery was more valuable, so he instructed them to free him.

Hazrat Sha'bi says: Free the one who is more valuable of the two.

Hazrat Hisham narrates from his father that Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was asked about freeing a child born out of wedlock. She replied, "The sin of his parents is not upon him." Then she recited this verse { وَ لَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَۃٌ وِّزْرَ اُخْرٰی }.

Isa al-Khabat narrates that I heard from Hazrat Sha’bi, he said: Among three, the child of adultery is the best; indeed, this is the one about whom Hazrat Ka’b says he is the worst among three.
