Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Qais narrates that a woman says: I was with Ummul Momineen Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when a woman came with her jewelry and said, "I have brought this as a gift for the House of Allah." Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said to her: "If you had given it in the way of Allah to orphans and the needy, (that would have been better). Surely, for this House, spending and gifts are given from the treasures of Allah."

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "It is more beloved to me that I give this ring of mine in charity than that I offer a thousand sacrificial animals for the Ka'bah."

Hazrat Qasim bin Muhammad says that for me to give one dirham in charity in the way of Allah is more beloved than to present one hundred thousand dirhams as a gift to the House of Allah (the Ka'bah). If an entire valley full of wealth were to flow towards me (were given to me), I would not present even a single dirham from it as a gift to the House of Allah.
