Is it sufficient to free a slave woman under contract or her child?
Hadith 12652
١٢٦٥٢ - حدثنا أبو بكر قال: حدثنا عمر بن أيوب عن جعفر بن (برقان) (١) عن ميمون أن رجلًا كان عليه نسمة فأراد أن يعتق ولد مكاتبة لهم فقال: لا، أعتق غيره.
It is narrated from Hazrat Ja'far bin Burqan that a man was obliged to free a slave. He wanted to free the son of his bondwoman who was under a contract of manumission. Hazrat Maymun said: No, free another slave besides him.
Hadith 12653
١٢٦٥٣ - حدثنا ابن نمير عن أبي حنيفة عن حماد عن إبراهيم قال: لا يجزئ في الظهار ولا التحرير ولا القتل ولد مكاتبه.
Ibrahim says that in the case of zihar, freeing a slave, and expiation for murder, freeing the son of a mukatab will not suffice.
