Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Maisarah that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) received the news of the martyrdom of Hazrat Zaid, Hazrat Ja'far, and Hazrat Abdullah bin Rawahah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned their deeds (affairs) and then said: O Allah! Forgive Zaid, O Allah! Forgive Zaid, O Allah! Forgive Zaid, O Allah! Forgive Ja'far and Abdullah bin Rawahah.

Hazrat Harith bin Zuhair narrates that when Hazrat Abdullah received the news of the demise of Hazrat Abu Darda, he said: After him, there will not be a successor like him.

Hazrat Asim says that when I informed Hasan of the death of Hazrat Sha'bi, he said: May Allah have mercy on him. By God! He had a great status in Islam.

Hazrat Ibn Abjar says that I informed Hazrat Sha'bi of the death of Ibrahim, so he said: May Allah have mercy on him; in any case, after him there will not be anyone like him to take his place. In any case, even after his death, he is more learned in jurisprudence than the living.

Hazrat Yazid bin Abi Ziyad narrates that when the funeral of Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman was being carried and people passed by Hazrat Abu Juhaifa, he said: "He found peace and comfort, and people found relief and ease from him."

Hazrat Abu Uthman narrates that when I brought the news of the death of Hazrat Nu'man bin Muqarrin to Hazrat Umar, he placed his hand on his head and began to weep.

Hazrat Nafi' narrates that Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) was in the market when he was informed of the death of Wa'il bin Hujr. Upon hearing this, he stood up and was overcome with weeping.

Hazrat Abu Kulthum narrates that I heard Hazrat Ibn al-Hanafiyyah saying at the funeral of Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): Today, an expert in knowledge and one perfect in knowledge has passed away.

Hazrat Ammar narrates that we were sitting in the shade of a building with Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) at the funeral of Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit. He said: Today, a great amount of knowledge has been buried.
