Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Al-Asbahani narrates that Hazrat Abu Salih came to me to offer condolences for my son, and he narrated a hadith from Hazrat Abu Saeed and Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with them) that once the women requested the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to appoint a special day for them just as he had done for the men. So the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the women, preached to them, taught them, and gave them various instructions, and said to them: There is no woman whose three newborn children have been buried except that they will become a veil for her from the fire of Hell. One woman said, O Messenger of Allah! Only two of my children have passed away. The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Three. Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Yes) two, two (also). Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the children referred to are those who have not yet reached puberty.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) carrying her child and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah for this child (that Allah grants him a long life). Indeed, I have already buried three children." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You have buried three children?" She replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Indeed, they are a barrier for you from the intensity of the Fire (on the Day of Judgment)."

Hazrat Abdullah bin Qais narrates that I was sitting with Hazrat Abu Burdah one night when Hazrat Harith bin Aqeesh came to us, and that night he narrated to us a hadith that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a Muslim husband and wife lose four small children, Allah the Exalted will admit both of them into Paradise. The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! (What about) three children?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Three." The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! (What about) two children?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "And two as well."

It is narrated from Hazrat Muadh bin Jabal that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Paradise is obligatory for those whose three small children pass away. The companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah! What about those with two children?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Paradise has also become obligatory for those with two children.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umamah that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three young minor children of any Muslim parents pass away, Allah Almighty, by His mercy and grace, will admit them (the parents) into Paradise.

Hazrat Umm Sulaym narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: If any Muslim parents have three young, minor children who have passed away, Allah Almighty, by His mercy and grace, will admit them (the parents) into Paradise.

Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that whoever has three young children who pass away while he is patient and hopeful for reward, then by Allah’s command, they will be a barrier for him from the Fire.

Hazrat Abu Dharr narrates that I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: If three young, minor children of any Muslim parents pass away, Allah Almighty, by His mercy and grace, will admit them (the parents) into Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abdullah that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If three minor children of Muslim parents pass away, Allah Almighty will admit both of them into Paradise. Hazrat Abu Dharr submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Two of my children have passed away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "And (Paradise is obligatory) in the case of two as well." Hazrat Abu al-Mundhir submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! One of my children has passed away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "And in the case of one as well (this is so) when patience is observed at the very onset of the calamity."

Hazrat Muawiyah bin Qurrah narrates from his father that a man came to the service of the Holy Prophet, and with him was his young son. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Do you love him?" He replied, "May Allah love you as you love him." Then (after some time) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) found the child missing and asked, "What happened to your son?" Then he said, "Did you announce his death?" Then the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him, "Are you not pleased that when you come to one of the gates of Paradise to have it opened, your son will come running and open the gate of Paradise for you?" The man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Is this only for me or for all people?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "It is for all of you."

It is narrated from Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah honor his face) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Indeed, the fetus will seek refuge with its Lord that its parents not be admitted into the Fire, until it will be said to it, "O child who seeks refuge with your Lord, wait: indeed, I have admitted your parents into Paradise." And he said: That child will pull both of them (the parents) by the place where the umbilical cord was cut and admit them into Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A small child being brought before me is more beloved to me than him coming behind me as a horseman (in the battlefield of Jihad).

Hazrat Muhammad bin Sirin narrates that a woman who came to us, whose name was Mawiyeh, told me that she went to Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Muammar, and with him was a companion from among the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). That companion narrated that a woman came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with her child and said, "O Messenger of Allah! Pray for him that Allah may keep him alive, for three of my children have already passed away." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked her, "Since you became a Muslim, has this happened?" She replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "They are a shield for you from the Fire."
