Hadith 12231
١٢٢٣١ - حدثنا جرير (عن) (١) مغيرة (عن أصحابه) (٢) عن إبراهيم في السبي يسبى من أرض العدو قال: إذا (أقر) (٣) بالتوحيد (وبالسجدتين) (٤) صلِّي عليه.
Ibrahim was asked about the ruling concerning a captive who was taken from the enemy’s land. He replied: If he affirms monotheism and the two testimonies, his funeral prayer will be performed.
Hadith 12232
١٢٢٣٢ - حدثنا جرير عن العلاء عن خيثمة قال: إذا صلى مرة صلِّي عليه.
Hazrat Khaythamah says that if he has performed the prayer even once, his funeral prayer will be offered.
Hadith 12233
١٢٢٣٣ - حدثنا جرير عن أشعث عن الحسن قال: (إذا قال) (١) لا إله إلا اللَّه صُلّي (عليه) (٢).
Hasan says that when he recites La ilaha illallah, his funeral prayer will be performed.
Hadith 12234
١٢٢٣٤ - حدثنا شريك عن (عبد اللَّه) (١) بن عيسى (عن) (٢) عبد اللَّه بن (جبر) (٣) عن أنس بن مالك قال: كان شاب يهودي يخدم النبي ﷺ فمرض، فأتاه النبي ﷺ يعوده (فقال) (٤): " (أفتشهد) (٥) أن لا إله إلا اللَّه وأني رسول اللَّه"، قال: فجعل ينظر إلى أبيه فقال: قل كما يقول لك محمد، (فقال) (٦)، ثم مات، (فقال) (٧) النبي ﷺ: "صلوا على صاحبكم" (٨).
Hazrat Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that there was a Jewish youth who used to serve the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He fell ill, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him and said: "Do you bear witness that there is no deity except Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Jewish youth looked towards his father. His father said, "Say as Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is saying." So he said it in the same way, and then he passed away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offer the funeral prayer for your companion."
Hadith 12235
١٢٢٣٥ - حدثنا عبد الرحمن بن مهدي عن سهل السراج قال: (سمعت) (١) محمد بن سيرين سئل عن قوم أقبلوا (بسبي) (٢)، فكانوا (إذا) (٣) (أمروهم) (٤) أن ⦗١٥٦⦘ يصلوا (صلوا) (٥)، وإذا (لم يأمروهم) (٦) لم يصلوا. فمات رجل منهم فقال: تبين لكم أنه من أصحاب الجحيم؟ (فقالوا) (٧): لا) (٨) (٩) ما تبين لنا، قال: اغسلوه وكفنوه وحنطوه وصلوا عليه (١٠).
Hazrat Sahl bin Siraj narrates that Muhammad bin Sirin was asked about some people who were brought to him. Regarding their condition, he said: If they were told to pray, they would pray; if not told, they would not pray. One of these people has passed away; should his funeral prayer be performed? He replied: Has it become clear to you that he is from the people of Hell? They answered: No. He said: Then bathe him, shroud him, apply fragrance, and perform his funeral prayer.
Hadith 12236
١٢٢٣٦ - حدثنا إسماعيل بن علية عن محمد بن زياد عن (أبي) (١) عبد اللَّه (الشقري) (٢) قال: قال رجل عند الشعبي: إني أجلب الرقيق فيموت بعضهم (أفأصلي) (٣) عليه؟ فقال: إن صلَّى فصلِّ عليه، و (إن) (٤) لم يصل فلا تصل عليه.
A person asked Hazrat Sha’bi, “I gather slaves; if any of them dies, should I perform his funeral prayer?” He replied, “If he used to perform prayers, then perform his funeral prayer; otherwise, do not perform it.”
Hadith 12237
١٢٢٣٧ - حدثنا حماد بن (١) خالد عن ابن أبي ذئب عن الزهري قال: إذا (تشهد) (٢) الكافر (وهو) (٣) في السوق صُلي عليه.
Hazrat Zuhri says that if a disbeliever, in the throes of death, professes the testimony of faith, then his funeral prayer will be performed.
