Soil should be placed over the deceased in the grave
Hadith 12067
١٢٠٦٧ - حدثنا عباد بن العوام عن حجاج عن عمير (بن) (١) سعيد أن عليًّا (حثى) (٢) في قبر ابن المكفف (٣).
Hazrat Umair bin Saeed narrates that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) put soil in the grave of Hazrat Ibn al-Mukaffaf.
Hadith 12069
١٢٠٦٩ - حدثنا وكيع عن موسى بن عبيدة عن يعقوب (بن) (١) زيد أن ⦗١١٠⦘ (رسول اللَّه) (٢) ﷺ حثى في قبره (٣).
Hazrat Yaqub bin Zaid narrates that indeed soil was placed over the grave of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 12070
١٢٠٧٠ - حدثنا يحيى بن (سعيد) (١) عن ثور قال: (ثنا) (٢) (عامر) (٣) بن (جشيب) (٤) وغيره من أهل الشام عن أبي الدرداء قال: من تمام أجر الجنازة أن يحثو في القبر (٥).
Hazrat Abu Darda states that the full reward of the funeral (is received) when soil is thrown on the grave.
Hadith 12071
١٢٠٧١ - حدثنا وكيع عن سفيان عن يعقوب (الأحلافي) (١) قال: أخبرني من رأى زيد بن أرقم حثا في (قبر ثلاثًا) (٢) (٣).
Yaqub Al-Ahlafi narrates that the person who saw Hazrat Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) throwing soil into the grave three times told me.
Hadith 12072
١٢٠٧٢ - [حدثنا وكيع عن (يزيد بن أبي زياد) (١) عن عمه أن عليًّا حثى في قبر] (٢) (٣).
Hazrat Yazid bin Abi Ziyad narrates from his uncle that Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah honor his face) put soil on the grave.
Hadith 12073
١٢٠٧٣ - [حدثنا داود (عن مبارك) (١) عن الحسن قال: إن شئت (فاحث) (٢) في القبر وإن شئت فلا (تحث) (٣) فيه.
Hasan says that if you wish, you may put soil on the grave, and if you do not wish, then do not put it.
Hadith 12074
١٢٠٧٤ - حدثنا معن (بن) (١) عيسى عن خالد] (٢) بن أبي بكر أنه رأى سالم (بن عبد اللَّه) (٣) على (شفير) (٤) قبر ثم انصرف ولم (يحث) (٥) فيه شيئًا من تراب.
Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Bakr narrates that I saw Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah standing by the edge of a grave; he turned back and did not put any soil on the grave at all.
Hadith 12075
١٢٠٧٥ - حدثنا (الفضل) (١) بن دكين بن عن الحكم بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي (نعم) (٢) قال: حدثني رجل من جهينة قال: كنت مع أبي هريرة في جنازة (فحثى) (٣) في قبره (٤).
Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Na'am narrates that a person from Juhainah mentioned to me that I was with Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he put soil on a grave.
