Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Yusuf bin Mahak narrates that I saw Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) at a funeral; he had placed the bier between his shoulders, resting it on his shoulders.

Hazrat Khalid bin Abi Bakr says: We saw Hazrat Salim bin Abdullah between the two legs of his mother's funeral bier until they took her out of the house, and one of Hamzah and Ubaidullah was holding the right side (handle) of the bier and the other was holding the left side.

Hazrat Ma'ruf says that I saw Matlub bin Abdullah bin Hantab with the bier of Harith's son between both his arms.

Hazrat Saad bin Ibrahim narrates from his father that I saw Hazrat Saad at the foot of Hazrat Abdullah bin Awf’s bier, and he was saying, “Alas, the leader and the scholar.”

Hazrat Abu Ishaq says that I saw Hazrat Abu Juhaifa at the funeral of Hazrat Abu Maisarah; he was holding the leg of the bier and saying, "O Abu Maisarah, may Allah forgive you."

Hazrat Furat bin Sulaiman narrates that a funeral procession was taken out from the house of Banu al-Khammar. Among them was a young man who was carrying the bier on his shoulder. Hazrat Maymun took hold of his hand and led him outside.

Ismail narrates that I saw Abu Juhaifa at the funeral of Abu Maisarah; the bier was on his shoulder and he was saying, "O Allah! Forgive Abu Maisarah."

Hazrat Rabi' says that Hasan disliked the act of standing in front of or behind a bed.
