Some Scholars Say Ghusl Is Obligatory for the One Who Gave Ghusl to the Deceased
Hadith 11476
١١٤٧٦ - حدثنا محمد بن بشر العبدي عن زكريا عن مصعب بن شيبة عن طلق ابن حبيب عن عبد اللَّه بن الزبيرأن عائشة حدثته: أن النبي ﷺ قال: " (يغتسل) (١) من غسل الميت" (٢).
It is narrated from Hazrat Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever bathes a deceased person should perform ghusl (ritual bath).
Hadith 11477
١١٤٧٧ - حدثنا وكيع عن سعيد بن عبد العزيز عن مكحول قال: (سأل) (١) رجل (حذيفة) (٢) كيف أصنع؟ قال: أغسله كيت (وكيت) (٣) فإذا فرغت فاغتسل (٤).
Hazrat Mak’hool narrates that a person asked Hazrat Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him), “How should I give ghusl (ritual washing)?” He replied, “Like this and like this, and then when you have finished giving the ghusl, perform ghusl yourself.”
Hadith 11478
١١٤٧٨ - حدثنا وكيع عن إسرائيل عن (جابر) (١) عن عامر عن الحارث عن علي قال: من غسل ميتًا فليغتسل (٢).
Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him, may Allah honor his face) said that whoever gives a bath to a deceased person should perform ghusl (ritual bath) himself.
Hadith 11479
١١٤٧٩ - حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب قال: من السنة أن من غسل ميتًا اغتسل (١).
Hazrat Saeed bin Al-Musayyib states that it is from the Sunnah that the one who bathes the deceased should perform ghusl (ritual bath).
Hadith 11480
١١٤٨٠ - حدثنا شريك عن أبي إسحاق أن رجلين من أصحاب علي وأصحاب عبد اللَّه غسلا ميتًا فاغتسل الذي من أصحاب علي وتوضأ الذي من أصحاب عبد اللَّه.
Hazrat Abu Ishaq narrates that two persons from among the companions of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Abdullah gave the deceased a bath. Then the companions of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) bathed themselves afterwards, but the companions of Hazrat Abdullah did not bathe.
Hadith 11481
١١٤٨١ - حدثنا عبدة بن سليمان عن محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة عن أبي هريرة أنه كان يقول: من غسل ميتًا فليغتسل ومن حمله فليتوضأ (١).
Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that whoever bathes a deceased person should perform ghusl (full ritual bath) afterwards, and whoever carries the bier should perform wudu (ablution).
Hadith 11482
١١٤٨٢ - حدثنا شبابة عن ابن أبي ذئب عن صالح مولى التؤمة عن أبي هريرة عن النبي ﷺ أنه قال: "من غسل ميتًا فليغتسل ومن حمله فليتوضأ" (١).
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever gives a bath to a deceased person should perform ghusl himself, and whoever carries him should perform wudu.
Hadith 11483
١١٤٨٣ - حدثنا عبد الوهاب الثقفي عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة أنه كان إذا غسل ميتًا اغتسل.
Whenever Hazrat Abu Qalabah bathed a deceased person, he would also perform ghusl himself.
