Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Ibrahim says that if a woman dies among men and there is no woman with them, then she should be given ghusl by pouring water over her clothes.

Hazrat Nafi' reports that I asked Hazrat Safiyyah bint Abi Ubaid: If a woman dies among men and there is no other woman with them, what is the ruling? She replied: She should be buried in her clothes as she is.

Hazrat Ata was asked: What if a woman dies among men? He replied: She should be given tayammum and then buried in the same clothes, and the same ruling applies to a man (if he dies among women).

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib says that if a woman dies among men and there is no other woman with them, then the men will perform tayammum on her with earth and will not give her a bath. And if a man dies among women, the same should be done.

Hazrat Hammad says that he should perform tayammum with clean earth, and the ruling for a man is the same.

Hazrat Abu Salamah was asked: What if a man dies among women? He replied: His wife should give him the ritual bath. And if he does not have a wife, then tayammum should be performed for him. And if a woman dies among men and there is no woman with them, then her husband should give her the ritual bath. If there is no husband, then women of the People of the Book should pour water over her and give her the ritual bath.

Hazrat Ata says that if a woman dies among men, he says that the men will pour water over her and then bury her, and if a man dies among women, then those women will pour water over him and bury him.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that if a woman dies among men, he says: She will be immersed in water.
