Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila was asked, after cutting the nails and hair of the deceased (what should be done with them)? He replied, they should be kept along with him.

Hazrat Asim narrates from Hazrat Ibn Sirin and from the daughters of Sirin that the hair and other such things of the deceased which are cut should be buried along with the deceased.

Hazrat Usman bin Ghiyath narrates that I heard from Hasan that if the nails and moustache of the deceased are long, they should be cut. I asked Hazrat whether they should be placed in the grave along with him? He replied: Yes.

Hazrat Abu Qilabah says that it is better that they be placed in the grave along with it.

Hazrat Abdur Rahman bin Abi Laila narrates that Hazrat Qais bin Sa'd passed by a person whose finger had become detached; he placed it with him in the grave.

Hazrat Hafsa says that the hair of the deceased should be combed (straightened), and any (broken) hair should be placed with the deceased in the grave.
